About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager to join our team in a high-impact, hybrid delivery role. You will be the linchpin in driving the successful implementation and launch of complex software programs, including custom Software Development, Salesforce Implementations, and ERP systems. This role requires a leader who can bridge the gap between design research, engineering execution, and our State of Maryland Project Leads.

This is a fully remote, full-time position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans and timelines, utilizing Program Management best practices
    • Depending on the project, this role may require on-call duties.
    • Drive Process Improvement initiatives within the team and across projects.
    • Assessing and identifying risks that come up and escalating these concerns to the appropriate parties to mitigate them, with a specific focus on technical and security risks in software being delivered.
    • Facilitate the artifacts and documentation of an epic lifecycle.
    • Remove roadblocks from the team's path to keep project work on track.
    • Manage and facilitate the epic life cycle for product features.
    • Facilitate all sprint ceremonies (planning, daily standups, reviews, retrospectives) in accordance with agile development practices.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management :
    • Communicate with client stakeholders to determine project requirements and objectives, conducting detailed Requirements Gathering & Analysis.
    • Build and maintain strong Client Relationship Management practices, ensuring a focus on Customer Success Strategy.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure their satisfaction with project outcomes and delivery.
    • Contractual deliverables: reporting project status, such as budget, resources, technical issues, or user testing results, to client stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership & Management:
    • Lead and mentor project team members.
    • Manage the team's capacity against their workload—ensuring that time off is marked on the calendar, and ensuring that for each sprint, each individual does not take on too much work.
    • Ensuring that the project is staffed appropriately to complete the work required.
    • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
    • Guiding direct reports when they are stuck in their IC duties.


Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
    • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification OR Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification (e.g., SAFe Agilist, SAFe Program Consultant).
    • Active Cloud Certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect).
  • Experience:
    • At least 5 years of experience as a Project Manager with 2-3 years (minimum) direct experience with agile development practices.
    • Demonstrated experience managing projects in the Datacenter and Cloud domain (migration, modernization, or large-scale deployment).
    • Experience with both the use and management of ticketing systems.
    • Experience managing client relationships, focusing on Customer Success Strategy and End-to-End Project Management.
    • Experience leading complex projects, including managing milestones, dependencies, and integrations with significant risk, uncertainty, or scale.
    • Previously worked with product, design, and engineering teams as a cohesive unit and maintaining open lines of communication in a multi-disciplinary environment.
    • Scrum Master or Product Manager in a complex software development environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, essential for effective Client Relationship Management.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on Risk Management.
    • Strong organizational and time-management skills, driving effective Program Management.
    • Highly skilled in facilitating communication and managing the psychological safety of a team.
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
    • Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
    • Experience with project management tools (Jira, Confluence, GitHub, Trello and/or other industry-standard tools).

Desired Skills

  • Experience with project management in a government context (state or federal).
  • Track record of introducing and expanding agile transformation and pursuing best practices in project management with clients and stakeholders, including Process Improvement.
  • Experience working with development teams building custom software, especially related to cloud-native applications.
  • Ability to create training materials and lead Change Management efforts.


All work must be conducted within the U.S., excluding U.S. territories. Some state and federal contracts require U.S. citizenship to be eligible for employment.

As the US Government and State Local Government is our clientele, you may be required to obtain a public trust or security clearance.
